Background of the Study
Women entrepreneurship has emerged as a critical avenue for economic empowerment and job creation, particularly in developing countries like Nigeria. In Kano State, the role of women entrepreneurs in reducing unemployment is increasingly recognized, as they contribute to various sectors, including retail, manufacturing, and services. However, despite their growing presence in the business world, women entrepreneurs face numerous challenges, including limited access to finance, gender biases, and cultural barriers that affect their ability to expand and create jobs (Adeniran & Omotayo, 2023).
The economic contribution of women entrepreneurs extends beyond their businesses; they help reduce unemployment by hiring others, providing training, and creating economic opportunities for their communities. This study will explore how female business owners in Kano State are contributing to reducing unemployment and how various factors, such as access to resources and entrepreneurial skills, influence their success.
Statement of the Problem
While female entrepreneurs in Kano State are contributing to job creation, they face significant barriers that limit their potential for expansion and further impact on unemployment. This study will assess the extent to which women entrepreneurs contribute to reducing unemployment and identify the challenges they face in doing so.
